Experienced Walkers

Footloose are actively seeking new members who are used to hiking, particularly those who can reduce our average age! Prospective new members are welcome on our walks, but we ask that you contact us beforehand and take a look at our frequently asked questions page.

Unsure of Your Ability?

Contact us and have a chat about which of the walks we have planned might suit your level of fitness and stamina. You are welcome to come on a few walks without paying the membership fee before deciding whether or not to join us.

New to Hiking

If you are new to hiking then we are probably not the best place for you to start. Our leaders are unable to make special provision for anyone unable to keep pace with, or complete, our walks. Instead, we’d recommend you start with some introductory guided walks offered by organisations such as the Peak District National Park or the National Trust. Local councils also organise walks from visitor centres in country parks.

No Car?

Unfortunately it is difficult for walkers without a car to come on the majority of our walks. The club does not arrange transport and participants are expected to make their own way to the start of each walk. Usually this means driving to the meeting point, as walks often start from remote locations that are difficult to reach by public transport, especially on Sundays. Once you get to know other members who live close by, it may be possible to arrange to share cars.
